So you’ve found a great place to stay on Airbnb, but you want to ask the host a few questions before you make your final decision on whether to stay. You try to find a place to send them a message, but you can’t find it.

Keep reading for some ideas on why Airbnb isn’t letting you send messages and how to possibly fix the issue.
So Why Won’t Airbnb Let Me Send a Message?
If you’re having trouble getting messages to send on Airbnb, make sure that you’re looking in the right place to send a message. If you are still having problems, try clearing your internet browser’s cache.
Here are the steps you’ll need to follow:
Step 1: Find the host’s profile icon on the listing.

When you’re looking at the main page of the place you want to stay, you’ll see a screen like this (shown above). Right underneath the promotional photos, you’ll see an icon with a profile picture. If you click on that icon, the page will automatically scroll down to this section (below):
Step 2: Contact the host.

You’ll click on the button that says “Contact Host,” and that will bring you to a new page where you can type a message. The new page will look like this:
Step 3: Send a message.

To send your message, simply start typing in the empty box and click “send message” when you’re done.
Afterwards, your sent messages will appear in your messages tab, found by clicking on the three lines next to your profile icon and selecting “messages.”

If for some reason your message doesn’t send, you can try clearing your browser history and sending the message again.
To clear your browser history, you’ll need to go into your browser’s settings and find a tab that says “clear browsing history” or “clear cache.” When you click on that, it should reset your browser and delete your browsing history up to that point.

Other Possible Reasons Why You Can’t Send Messages
Aside from issues with your own computer, there is also a chance that your inability to send messages is on Airbnb’s end. If a particular account has been blocked, limited, or suspended, then you will not be able to send to or receive messages from this person. If you think this was done in error, you’ll need to get in contact with Airbnb’s team to get the problem sorted out. They may be able to restore the user’s account.
Final Thoughts on Messaging in Airbnb
Keep in mind that Airbnb limits users to a maximum of 25 messages in the span of 24 hours, so be sparing and intentional with each message you send on the platform. If you have any trouble sending or receiving messages, and these tips don’t work for you, try getting in contact with Airbnb to see if they can help you fix it.
