Best Coffee for Airbnb

As an Airbnb host myself, I have gotten reviews and feedback from guests who appreciated being able to brew a relaxing cup of coffee on their first morning of vacation, despite not making it to a store to stock up on goods yet.

Factors to Consider When Buying Coffee for Your Airbnb

Many people can’t start their day without a strong cup of joe. As Airbnb superhosts, we’ve found that many of our guests appreciate a coffee station. Through our experience, we’ve pulled together a list of some of the most important factors to consider when stocking your rental with coffee for guests.

Quality, cost, flavor, and price are some of the most basic factors to consider when choosing what coffee to stock in your rental.

Grounds Vs. Coffee Pods

On the one hand, ground coffee tends to have better flavor and is more eco-friendly. On the other hand, pods last longer and are more tailored to individual guests.

Ground coffee can go stale after being opened but will suit a wider variety of coffee pots. Alternatively, pods can be a nice way to curate a private, one-cup experience for guests by stocking up ahead of time.

While coffee pods are less eco-friendly, they do mean less cleanup and mess than loose grounds. Moreover, by providing grounds you will also need to stock coffee filters or reusable pods, whereas pods don’t require any additional purchases.

When it comes to coffee, most people enjoy a high-quality brew. However, few people can agree on flavor. Pods certainly make it easier to provide a variety of flavors to suit the needs of any guest. Many pods come in variety packs that provide a number of different flavors.

Ultimately, choosing better quality grounds or pods will add a touch of class to your rental and ensure that even the pickiest guest will feel catered to.

By providing pods, a host can make sure that any guest preference is met. Whether a guest prefers sweet, bold, light, or uniquely flavored coffee, pods are a great way to let them choose.

You should also consider that some guests might prefer decaf. While some folks need a jump start in the morning, others might be more sensitive to caffeine. Providing both is an easy way to meet the needs of any guest.

By providing pods, you will likely spend less money because you can stock up in bulk. While grounds will go stale over time, pods can last a long time. Moreover, pods will result in less waste as they take just a cup at a time, saving you money in the long run.

Regardless of whether you opt to stock in bulk, paying a slightly more premium price for higher quality grounds is worth it. There are several affordable options that don’t skimp on quality. Simply put, better grounds will mean a better cup of coffee.

Cream & Sugar

While some folks, like me, prefer their coffee strong, others might need a little bit of sweetness to get their engine revving. While you might not be able to realistically keep dairy products stocked for each and every guest, there are some bulk options that you might consider keeping on hand.

Similarly, making sure there are a few varieties of sweetener packs, like sugar, Splenda, and Sweet’N Low can make your property stand out. Simple and affordable luxuries like these can make your guests feel more welcome and demonstrate your thoughtfulness.

  • Too strong to be considered a medium roast

The Best Features of Caribou Blend Medium Roast

It is roasted in small batches and handcrafted with 100% Arabica coffee. This ground coffee blend is strong and flavorful but not overpowering. As an everyday coffee drinker, I really love the flavor of this blend; however, it is bold for a “medium roast.” Those who prefer lighter blends or a genuine medium may think this coffee is too bitter.

When I purchase products, I like to know a little about the company I am supporting. Caribou Coffee is Rainforest Alliance Certified and Climate Pledge Friendly, so they use sustainable methods to produce their coffee.

All in all, Caribou Coffee’s medium blend is the perfect option to buy for your Airbnb. Not only do you get to provide your guests with delicious coffee, but you are supporting a company that is dedicated to improving the environment.

Peet’s Coffee prides itself on freshness and goes as far as to mark every single bag of coffee with the roast date. This way, you always know you’re getting a fresh cup of coffee.

Although I appreciate a bold, dark blend coffee, some guests may find this dark roast too strong and bitter. If you do decide to stock your Airbnb with Major Dickason’s Dark Roast, you might also consider supplying your guests with a light roast option.

Starbucks Medium Roast Breakfast Blend

Kicking Horse hand roasts their 100% Arabica coffee beans in the Rocky Mountains. The Kick Ass Dark Roast is bold, sweet, and smoky. It has notes of chocolate malt, molasses, and licorice with an earthy finish.

Kicking Horse is Climate Pledge Friendly, Fairtrade certified, USDA Organic, and Kosher. When you purchase from Kicking Horse, you are getting a great product with even better intentions.

This dark roast is very bold and can be too bitter for some people. Although some Airbnb customers may enjoy this coffee, especially if they wake up on a chilly morning in a cabin in the mountains, it may not suit all guests.

Decaf Option: Allegro Decaf Organic French Roast Ground Coffee

If you are going to supply your Airbnb guests with coffee, it is a good idea to include a decaf option. Some people cannot have caffeine, and others may want to enjoy a warm cup of coffee after a long day of traveling without being kept awake all night. Allegro Decaf Organic Coffee is a great decaf option for your Airbnb.

This coffee is sweet and smoky. It has notes of molasses and black pepper. French roast is generally a heavier, sweeter, and more rich coffee, so you will still have a great flavor even though it’s decaf.

Allegro is a Climate Pledge Friendly company out of Boulder, Colorado, dedicated to providing ethically sourced and sustainable coffee. This decaf coffee is also USDA Organic.

The biggest downside to this coffee is that it is not as aromatic and flavorful as some other coffees I have tried.

Fun and Flavorful: Kauai Hawaiian Coconut Caramel Crunch Coffee

It is easy to get bored of the same old cup of coffee. Why not give your guests the option of something fun and different to enjoy on their vacation? The Kauai Hawaiian Coconut Caramel Crunch Blend is a deliciously sweet coffee perfect for a beach house Airbnb or even just to enjoy on a sunny morning by the pool.

Kauai Hawaiian is Hawaii’s largest coffee grower, and their coffee is made from 100% premium Arabica coffee. The coconut caramel blend has flavors of sweet, nutty caramel and tropical coconut. This blend is medium, so it balances both bold and sweet.

Although some guests may love a sweet, flavored coffee, this blend is not for everyone. If you want to provide this coffee in your Airbnb, I recommend also including a more regular coffee blend as well.

The Budget Option: Amazon Fresh Colombia Ground Coffee

Sometimes, you may just want to stock your Airbnb with a budget-friendly coffee that you know guests will like and appreciate. The Amazon Fresh Colombia Coffee will allow you to do just that.

Last update was on: June 15, 2024

Amazon’s signature medium roast ground coffee is made from 100% Arabica coffee that is grown in Colombia. This medium blend coffee is balanced, smooth, and filled with flavor, making it perfect for any coffee drinking.

The Amazon Fresh Colombia Coffee is very inexpensive, so it is perfect to stock in your Airbnb or vacation home without breaking the bank.

Final Thoughts

Deciding what coffee to provide in your Airbnb kitchen can be challenging. Hotel coffee is notoriously bad and your guests specifically are choosing to stay at your rental rather than a hotel. Avoiding the classic stereotype of “bad coffee on vacation” is an easy way to stand above the competition and provide your guests with the simple luxury of a soothing cuppa.
